Tara Scheidt

Vice President

Hi my name is Tara Scheidt and I am a lifelong resident of Tacoma and I care passionately about East Tacoma. I enjoy working on projects in Tacoma with the personal goal of lifting up East Tacoma and shining a positive light on the beautiful place we all call home. I am co-director of the McKinley Hill Street Fair since 2015 and the project coordinator of the McKinley Business District Depave that removed 10,000 square feet of asphalt replacing it with 6,000 plants and trees. I’ve proudly been a habitat steward at McKinley Park since 2009 maintaining the 27 acres of park and holding monthly work events. I’ve been a Tacoma Police volunteer since 2006 and enjoyed connecting citizens directly with solutions. I facilitated and funded 7 murals in East Tacoma that have incredibly transformed their space. I’m also a local East Tacoma small business owner since 2013. I’m very proud to have received the Washington State Governor’s award for Volunteer Family of the year with all of my hard working family members in 2018. I would love to assist you with your ideas, issues, or projects. Let’s make your vision happen.

I served 5 years on active duty stationed in North Dakota, Germany, England, and one tour in Iraq from 2006-2007. I earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Washington-Tacoma in 2011 and have worked in housing and homelessness nearly my entire career. I look forward to continuing to serve my community as a member of the ENACT board.

Brian Humphreys

Board Member

Brian grew up in the NE Tacoma/Federal Way, West Hill region. My training is in nonprofit leadership and community economic development, so I worked and lived overseas for a few years before coming back to Tacoma. I have spent the past 12 years serving here in many capacities, and I have been an Eastside homeowner and parent for 10 years. Examples of my work in Tacoma include: I created the Tacoma Tideflats Certificate for TPS that equips credit-deficient high school students for Port of Tacoma maritime jobs, I built and led the financial coaching program for Sound Outreach and Harborstone Credit Union, I negotiated the contracts for the first five United Way Center for Strong Families locations including the THA unit at Salishan, and I created a nonprofit that builds community among Tacoma fathers and connects them with high impact services which won the Poverty to Possibilities award in 2019. In addition to my community projects, I am also a full-time faculty member at Northwest University’s School of Global Studies and an elder at Trinity Presbyterian on the Hilltop. I have three children in our schools and my wife teaches English for refugees and immigrants at TCH. I am deeply invested in the present and future state of the Eastside, so it is a pleasure to serve on this board.
